As a member of the Helmholtz Association, Forschungs­zentrum Jülich makes an effective contri­bution to solving major chal­lenges facing society in the fields of information, energy,bio­economy. It focuses on varied tasks in the area of research managementutilizes large, often unique, scientific infra­structure. Comework with around 6,400 colleagues across a range of topicsdisciplines at one of Europe’s largest research centres.

The Ernst Ruska Centre (ER-C) at the Forschungs­zentrum Jülich is one of the world-leading electron microscopy centres with a total of 13 electron microscopes including the PICO Titan with a point resolution of 0.5 Å. The cryo-EM facility will soon be extended with state-of-the-art cryo-microscopes Titan Krios G4, Talos Arctica, Talos 120Aquilos 2. The Structural Biology division of the ER-C investigates the structuralmolecular mechanism of autophagypushes the development of cryo-EM-related methodology. The Jülich Super­computing Centre operates a series of super­computers including CPUGPU architectures of highest performance. The Jülich campus hosts a vibrant biophysicsstructural biology community.

Your Job:

Usingdeveloping cryo-EM image processing methods to determine the 3D structures of biological macromolecules
Using novel imaging approachesapplying computational methods of pattern recognition, artificial intelligencedeep learning to improve 3D reconstructiondensity map interpretation methods

Your Profile:

Master degree in bioinformatics, biophysicsrelated field
Familiarity with the Unix operating system is requiredprior knowledge in programming will be a plus
Excellent English communicationwriting skills
Structuredself-motivated way of working
