The Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) operates at the Heinz-Maier-Leibnitz-Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching near Munich a suite of high performance neutron scattering instruments. It provides access to these instruments for scientistsuniversitiesresearch institutions in Germanythroughout the world. Within the user program more than 1000 scientists visit the MLZ every year to perform experiments in the physical, chemical, biologicalmaterials sciences. In addition, JCNS is actively pursuing a research program in the field of soft matter sciencecondensed matter physicsenergy research.
We are looking to recruit as soon as possible a highly motivated
Postdoc in PhysicsChemistry for the development of advanced sample environment equipment
Design, developoperate sample environment equipment to perform pressuretemperature jumps
Contribute to the improvement of existing equipment with focus on time resolved measurements on SANS/VSANSQUENS
Conductdisseminate world-class research via publicationsconference presentations in the field of soft matterbiophysics, in close cooperation with the institute “Neutron ScatteringSoft Matter” (JCNS-1) in Jülichthe Soft Matter Physics Group of the Technical University of Munich
Representactively work on increasing the user base at MLZ
A PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysicsa related discipline
A strong background in experimental soft matterbiophysics with focus on structure examination
Knowledge in neutron scattering research preferably real-time SANS, rheo-SANS,bio-SANS would be a distinct advantage
Very good command of writtenspoken English
Initiative character, creativity, good interpersonal, communicationpresentation skills, result orientationanalytical skills
