It focuses on varied tasks in the area of research managementutilizes large, often unique, scientific infrastructure. Comework with around 5,900 colleagues across a range of topicsdisciplines at one of Europe’s largest research centres.

The Juelich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) operates at the Heinz-Maier-Leibnitz-Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching near Munich a suite of high performance neutron scattering instruments. It provides access to these instruments for scientistsuniversitiesresearch institutions in Germanythroughout the world. Within the user program more than 1000 scientists visit the MLZ every year to perform experiments in the physical, chemical, biologicalmaterials sciences. In addition, JCNS is actively pursuing a research program in the field of soft matter sciencecondensed matter physics.

In the Scientific Computing Group of JCNS at MLZ we develop software for the analysis of scattering experiments. We support instrument users,participate in exemplary data analyses. We closely cooperate with other European research centres.

We are looking to recruit a

Scientific Software Developer
with background in crystallography, physics,mathematics

Your Job:

develop open-source software to reduce, visualize, modelfit experimental data
collaborate internationally on software for neutron diffraction analysis
cooperate with instrument scientists to improve data analysis procedures
participate in exemplary studiesexperiment through analysis to publication

Your Profile:

PhD in physics, mathematics,related fields
track record in software development
sound knowledge of modern C++,closely similar languages
experience with any of following would be a plus: crystallography, condensed-matter physics, scattering, spectroscopy; numerical mathematics, high-performance computing; Python, Qt, CMake, git, Latex; test-driven development, cross-platform development
communicative personality with excellent command of spokenwritten English
in your application, please address all the above points; provide publication listreferences
